Cathedral Quartz forms in the shape of castle/cathedrals. They come in Smoky, Clear and Citrine Quartz Flavors. In the 90’s a Brazilian family started calling Amethyst geodes Cathedrals. We know them as the crystals you see in the photos below.

Cathedral Quartz Crystal Healing & Properties Information
For what and How Does One Use it?
Clear Cathedrals (they can be clear Citrine or clear Smoky) are referred to as Lightbrary Cathedrals. These crystals have doorways in their castling formation. To travel into the crystal, simply relax and gaze into the doorway. Once your mind, body and spirit are ready, you will see the doorway open and your consciousness will be drawn into the crystal. From there you can travel into different chambers and receive information that you are ready for at that time. You may also travel in inner and outer spacial dimensions in complete safety within the crystal.
Cathedral crystals are very rare, and seem to arrive in waves. There is not to much more to say about Cathedrals as everyone’s experience of them is usually unique to the crystal/person combination at that time.
Photo with markings..
Hello once again!! I just bought two amazing quartz crystals wchich i believe they are golden healers!! But i am findnig dificult to figure out the name of the formation, one side looks Etched\Elestial, the other looks Cathedral and it also has some markings, could it be a Starbrary too? Thank you
Hi Nuno, yes I see elements of cathedral and elestial. Golden healers must have the color under the surface? It is usually caused by iron oxides. If the color is on the surface, it is not a golden healer.
Thank you very much!! Your answer was very helpful!!!
More pictures of the Dumortierite…
Hello!! This is a dumortierite crystal! Can you tell me if this is an Elestial or Cathedral? Can it be both? Thank you
Hi Nuno, yes it is Cathedral form, complete with an upside down triangular door way!
Thank you so much!! I really apreciatte your insights!! Thank you for your answer on the smoky quartz too!!
I am sorry, i made a mistake the picture i sent you is not the Hushopi, but i still want to know you feel like the one in the other picture is a cathedral. The picture i put here now is of Hushopi Quartz.
Thank you
Hi Nuno, thank you for this post and photo. That is a very nice looking photo. It too just crosses the threshold of being a Cathedral from my point of view 🙂
Hello!!
I have some new crystals called Hishopi! They are from Pakistan and are new in the market and are still rare. Have you heard of them?? Another thing is that i feel they are Cathedral. Can you confirm? I tried to upload more photos but vould only put one.. don´t know why.
Thank you Very much!! I have been enjoying your short videos of the Elestials!!
Hi Nuno, Thank You for your post and photo! I have not heard of Hishopi Quartz. Is it named after a location? Yes, I consider the crystal in the photo to be a Cathedral formation crystal – just!
The uploading software just allows one photo at a time sorry, mainly for spam reasons I think. You can just click to make another post if you need to post more photos. I can either leave them as separate posts, or if I have time, condense them all into one post by editing them.
Thank You for the feedback on the elestial video series. I will likely make quite a few more. A cathedral one will be coming quite soon. 🙂
Thank you very much for your answer!! They are called Hushopi, made a mistake in the name, and no they are not called after the location they were found, The seller told me that it´s the name they are called, i asked for more information but he told me that they are very rare and new in the market, it was the only thing he knew about them. Well i never saw this type of quartz formation before, so i believe him.
Hi Nuno, you are welcome! You are right, they must be rare, I googled it and the only reference was……this thread! Great crystal!
Some photos of another Hushopi crystal!!
Sorry to put them here!! don´t know where to send them and it´s a pleasure to me to show you this wonderul crystals and let you kow about them
Thank You for showing everyone Nuno. The etchings and markings remind me of Diamantina quartz crystals from Brazil.
Your videos are very usefull!! And i trust your judgment on defining crystal types!! So once again thank you!! I can´t wait to see the next ones about Cathedrals!!!
Hi Nuno, thank you, I’m currently working on several more and will start releasing them by end of week all things going smoothly 🙂
How could I buy it??

Hello!
Recent new reader and first time commenter. Thank you for all the information, it's been very valuable and helpful! I have lots of questions about various crystals I've recently come into but will start with this one.
I think it may be a cathedral quartz? Or is it a lightbrary? Is there a difference between the two?
Thank you for your time x
Hi Katharyn, thank you for your kind comments 🙂
That is a Cathedral crystal. Lightbrary crystals are Cathedral crystals that are generally water clear and have a formation that naturally creates little doorways (triangular shaped) into the crystal. Your crystal has that formation. If it is water clear, even just through the top of the crystal, it could be considered a lightbrary too.
Thank you so much, Anthony!
Hello Anthony
I really love your websites and all of the information You have passionately put there !
Crystal have a way to hook up us-me !!!
I sent you an email with question and pictures – on Sunday I believe. I do not know if you answered or not yet…I do not
know where to find your answer…Thank you so much .
Monique
Hi Monique, I just replied now, sorry for the late reply. I have not been home for 6 weeks as my home is currently in a covid lock down area, so I just reply to emails and messages here as I drift in and out of shoddy internet connection areas, welcome to New Zealand lol
Hi
I believe I have a Lightbary Cathedral Quartz – please see photos, can you confirm as this is the first time I have seen one
Hi Fiona, yes that looks to be a lightbrary Cathedral 🙂
Hi Anthony,
Do only the Citrine and Smokey catherdral quartz contain cosmic information? What about clear crystal catherdral quartz? I hope you're still running this site, as i saw the last comment is in 2019.
Thank you so much for your help!
Hi Shuning, Thank You for your post. Yes, the clear Quartz Cathedrals also have cosmic information within them.
There have not been many comments on Cathedral quartz. The most commented crystal pages are Milky Quartz, Record Keepers and the misrepresentation of crystals 2 blog post 🙂
What is the difference between cathedral and elestial quartz?
The short answer is cathedrals have a very straight and structured castle look to them, where as elestials have literally no rules to their form and just blob out all over the show in which ever direction the form feels like going.
Hello! Great site. Thankful to find it.
I recently ran into this lodolite crystal: would it be accurate to call it cathedral? It seems to tower but also doesn’t have the outage. Very curious what type of energy might come from this type of formation. I’m entranced by it.
Hi Franco, Please email a photo or two to anthony@crystyal-information.com and I will let you know.
Thank you very much, Anthony, you are responsive, like a quartz crystal, ready to share the knowledge stored in your internal Lightbrary! 🙂
Hi, Anthony,
I am so much obliged to you for this wonderful site. The presented information and high-resolution photos enabled me to identify many crystals from my collection which were obtained before but not described in available books. As if they had long waited patiently for their turn when their magical properties be revealed, and this turn has come thanks to your site.
Still some doubts and questions remained and I hope you will help me as a promoted crystal guru if you get time for my person. If you don’t mind, I will ask you some questions here and at some other sections and repeat them in e-mails as I am going to attach some photos.
Question 1.
I have a quartz crystal of Russian origin which I tentatively defined as “smoky cathedral double-terminated tabular faden”. If I am wrong could you please correct this definition? The approximate size is 10×5-2,5 cm (too small for cathedral?). I don’t know if cathedrals may be double-terminated. There is a presumptive bridge and also an aperture resembling a “gothic” door or window. A definite faden is running across the crystal. Unfortunately, two parts are broken, and I suspect that one of them, on the top, was a white reverse scepter. As I can understand, this piece in any case has combined majestic properties to be explored. If you have any ideas of the best way of using it, kindly share. I am sending you photos to your e-mail address.
Lots of thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Sincerely,
Elena
Hello Elena, thank you for your contribution to this site!
OK, yes, this crystal is a Faden Cathedral – very special! There is no size limit on Cathedrals, they can be tiny or large and any size in between! 🙂
I’m getting the energy of balance and connection, a bridge between energies of any nature. This is a crystal to work with in regards to unifying and making room for opposing views and beliefs. Humanity needs to take this approach, make room for everybody’s energy, yet do so in a way we can all move forward as one inclusive, yet extremely diverse people. Think of the crystal as the ultimate diplomat to achieve this. It will help you absorb, understand the diversity, while helping to provide a solution all can agree on and move forward with.
Guru – my take on this word is it should be broken down into it’s individual letters and spoken as if each letter is a word. See below 😀
