General Rainbow Quartz Crystal Information
For what and How Does One Use it?
Rainbow Crystals are very good manifestation crystals – as they have all colors of the rainbow inside them. This means they stimulate every chakra, thus stimulating every creative level possible. The full spectrum of colors make it easier to bring these manifestations into physical reality.
A good manifesting meditation exercise to do with a rainbow crystal is to lie down – place the crystal on your solar plexus. Now using visualization – concentrate on breathing in each color through the crystal, then on wards through the solar plexus and into the chakra concerned. Start with red for the root chakra, orange for sacral, gold for solar plexus, green then pink for the heart, blue for the throat, purple for the third eye, and white light for the crown. Seven breaths for each chakra should suffice. Now you are attuned to the crystal and have activated the 7 chakras – you are ready to use conscious intent to place your manifestation wishes within the quartz using the crystal programming technique. Once you feel comfortable the crystal has received what you wish to manifest into your life – the crystal will go on radiating that program 24/7, vastly accelerating the manifestation process.
Rainbow Quartz Crystals come in all the different flavors and varieties of quartz. The rainbows help expand that crystals default properties. An example would be the default root chakra grounding properties of Smoky Quartz will be expanded to the rest of the chakras covered by that particular rainbows color spectrum. These higher energies generated by the rainbow will be grounded into each chakra by the Smoky Quartz grounding properties.

Hi Anthony, I’m fascinated by rainbows in crystals and am wondering whether they are always due to internal cracks/fractures? Ie., if one has a rainbow in a crystal is that a definitive indication that there are internal cracks of some kind?
A second question relates to fire and ice crystals. Is it possible to tell by looking if the cracks inside are natural or man made?

Hi Helena, yes, rainbows are pretty much always caused by fractures, or natural veils withing the quartz crystals.
Crystals that are marketed as fire and ice, or crackle quartz are always heated by humans then dropped in ice to cause the cracks – ouch 🙁

Hi Susan, Thank you for your question. I had not heard of this before, so looked into it. I found it is also known as Caribbean Quartz. I noted that there only seems to be two companies selling it in any sort of volume. My opinion is, what ever it is, it was probably grown in a lab and is not a naturally found stone.

The Sabe's comment inspired me to leave mine own.
I have a quite few rocks around (actually a lot, all over my place) and what I have noticed is, that my a pound of topaz nuggets and citrine- heat treated amethyst and other quartzes I have, do just opposite. I mean the longer I have them the more rainbows they start to show. And yes, they are kept in no sun, no harsh cleaning or other use that might trigger the appearance of inside crack to form a rainbow. This might sound crazy, but this observation-especially after reading Sabe comment, to me it is just the other confirmation that rocks are living beings with very active energy flow/exchange and change.
Would love to hear the experts opinion on why and how crystals kept in stable position or just carried around in hand or pocket start to form inside rainbows without any visible outer cracks.
Perhaps it has to do with levels of internal moisture at the site of the rainbow, affected by levels of ambient moisture? I work with opals, both the hard opals from Australia and the hydophane opals from Ethiopia. Opals are quartz, but a bit more fragile that quartz (about a 6 to 6.5 on Moh's, instead of an 8) due to the numerous inclusions in which tiny drops of water have been trapped. Quality Opals are between 6-10% water. Without the water, they would not have their beautiful colors. Because of the water, the hard opals are very sensitive to extreme changes in temperature (they can fracture, and crack apart), while the hydrophane (volcanic) opals lose their color when they absorb enough water, but can also fracture with extreme temperatures when water is absorbed into a crack on their surfaces. So perhaps if the quartz crystals can either pick up color or lose color over time, my guess would be that it has something to do with moisture.
While putting in a garden fence, using a post hole digger, I found a loosely organized vein of blue quartz in my yard, under scattered sedimentary rocks, and near what appears to be deposits of graphite. Under that is very dense red clay, so you can really see the black smudges of graphite in the soil. There are also deposits of gneiss at the sandstone layer, and a very unusual green rock layer white has a coal-like substance on it (not hard enough to be graphite). Next to this I have also found pieces of rainbow quartz – very clear crystals with the rainbow effect. I live in the Catoctin Mnts. in Virginia. I have been trying to research what makes the blue color in the blue quartz, and have not found much literature with a solid explanation, only a lot of theories. However, the more I dig, the more I find, in very distinct layers, in the same order, among the coppery red clay. Now I suspect the blue color is quartz with inclusions of, or infused with graphite. Does anyone have any idea if the rainbow quartz is also created by something in this rock association? I should also add that there is manganese in the sandstone (dark purple colors) as well as evidence of iron (rusts), pyrite, and gold dust now and again.
I should add that the quartz down at our creek (about 500 ft away) is mostly opaque, and the few clear pieces have no rainbow effect (is more like quartzite). So I am amazed that the crystal clear rainbow quartz in 3 feet under the topsoil.
Hi! What do you do if you've had more than one (clear) quartz crystal, pendant or wand lose its internal rainbows? I don't keep my crystals in the sunlight (I don't get much sunlight where I live anyway). I focus visually on them, but I hardly ever hold them or have them exposed to any heat or water. The rainbows that were once present in a few of my cherished beauties are now completely gone. I have no idea why. I cleanse them by smudging them in white sage and place them on this huge selenite slab that I have to safely and gently clear them. Nothing. What can I do to get the rainbows back without hurting the crystal? I'm afraid to bury it in the earth for fear the elements will damage or crack them. What should I do? Thanks!
Hello Sabe, Thank you for your comments. Rainbows are usually a result of internal veils within the crystal. To be honest I’m unsure of what could of caused them to disappear. I can help you in regards to exposing your clear quartz to sun, water and the earth, none of these elements will harm your clear quartz, quite the opposite in fact. I would recommend that you first cleanse the Quartz is water, then place them in the sun all day. If the rainbows do not return, I would bury them in earth for a week, be very careful to mark the spot for retrieval later! Then once you retrieve them, again place them in water than the sun. If your pendant has metal, then I do not recommend water for any more than a minute or too, and do not bury it.
I have what I thought was a smokey quartz untill a friend pointed out the rainbow in it and we think it's a Isis too!

Hi i went into a crystal shop and I wanted to find a natural citrine crystal.Amazingly I found that the sun was shining on the crystals on show in the shop and a rainbow was being shown in a natural citrine crystal it was genuinely like it was calling to me and it wanted to work with me!
While I was finishing my massage course and then I went on to do a beauty therapy course I achieved both.I held the citrine while on the bus and with me while on the bus travelling to college and I used it as a manifestation tool to focus being positive and to achieve success on my courses.All I can say is it definately worked and with my own self belief and determination I passed my massage course and also achieved distinctions in all elements of my beauty therapy level 2.I am very pleased and my special crystal without any doubt helped me to focus on the positive outcome and it just shows that crystals along with thinking positive thoughts can create a successful outcome in ones life.

In attempt to figure out what kind of crystals I have that have rainbow inclusions but are not like others shown in any gallery, I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me to identify a quartz with rainbow inclusions.
I have many different types of quartz, most containing inclusions of some sort of rainbow appearance, they are small little speckles within the quartz in various places all around, however they don't look like any of the ones I've seen in any gallery around the web, it's just tiny little speckles of rainbow trapped inside, when you hold it to the light is when you can see them, however they don't appear to make a huge rainbow effect, it's just like little magical pieces of rainbow specs inside.
If anyone could help me to identify them it would be greatly appreciated, thank you so very much in advance. 🙂
Note: I've taken many of photo's of them, however I can't seem to get that rainbow inclusion to show up in any of the photos.
