Included Quartz Varieties
Quartz with inclusions of other minerals are facinating. Generally the other mineral grew first, then the hot liquid quartz solidified over the top of the existing mineral, capturing it inside the quartz – fascinating!!

I have a question. I am going to attach a couple of photos. I have no reason to be skeptical and the person in question is not trying to sell me the necklace, but the largest pendant stone is identified as “Rainbow Quartz”. This gentleman crafts his jewelry from stones found mostly in South and Central Asia, although he has access to stones from all over Asia, Africa, and the rest of the world. Is it possible for the stone to be that colorful naturally without being dyed?
Hi there, it is 100 percent dyed sorry. They have heated the quartz, then dipped it into cold water to create the cracks and fissures you see inside, then applied the dye. Quartz does not occur like this in nature.
Comment *hi, thank you for gathering and sharing this information and these photos. It’s wonderful to learn about and feast one’s eyes on.

Comment *Hello, I was given a small bag of gems and tonight this trigon shaped rainbow appeared. Not a great photo, but hopefully you can see enough to let me know if this is a record keeper?
Hi Lisa, Thank You for your question. It does have beautiful rainbows! It is not a record keeper in this case.
Hello,
Can you identify these two specimens for me?
Thank you so much for your help! – Dave
Hello Dave, the specimen on the left is a mixture of milky and clear quartz. The specimen on the right looks to be a milky quartz cluster 🙂
Thank you very much! Can you give me an approximate value? The milky and clear quartz on the left weighs approximately 1.9 lb.
No worries, it is kind of a tough one value wise, the specimen on the left would be up to say $80 depending on the condition of the clear quartz point ans the specimen on the right, maybe up to $30
