For what and How Does One Use it?
Amethyst crystals make powerful visualization assistants and help to manifest these visualizations into 3D reality! When placed beside one’s head, Amethyst crystals are very good for drawing out EMF type radiation that generally gets stored in that part of the body. It is very good for keeping our mind in a balanced and soothed state. Amethyst likes to be cleansed in water/saltwater and Earth.
Amethyst works particularly well with Rose, Clear, Smoky, and Citrine Quartz. Amethyst also combines in a natural state with Citrine, this is called Ametrine.
Summary
Amethyst is a beautiful energy that brings to mind the term, still waters run deep. There is much more to this crystal than a mere glance may suggest!
It is one of the three “default” crystals I keep in my healing kit bag, along with Clear and Rose Quartz.
Note: Some Amethyst can and does fade under direct sunlight. With this in mind, it is best to play it safe and position Amethyst crystals with care.

In regards to the Amethyst, I have actually purchased some of those exact ones. While they are not what I would term as being “Skeletal” – they are for real. Unfortunately what they do though is oil the crystals, and when you clean the oil off, nearly all of them actually have a crusty white surface.

I love Amethyst, it is one of my favorite Crystals (I have an Aquarius Moon in my Astral Chart…) last year I knew about Chevron Amethyst on foreign Crystal pages, books and Oracles, and now they are starting to be found in Italy too, but most shops don't know it and mix with normal Amethyst. Do you have an article around? And yesterday I discovered into an holistic fair also Amethyst with Cacoxenite, I had never seen. And guess what? I found a Chevron Amethyst sample with Cacoxenite mixed to classic ones

I have purchased some small amethyst crystals from eBay, and as usual- their pictures are better than the actual item…
I am suspecting they were shot, while they were wet. They have some white stuff on them, which I have tried to scrub away with a soft toothbrush after they soaked for a little while in soapy water. Didn't help much… do you know what could it be and how can I clean it?

Hi Polina, What they do is cover crystals like this in oil, then they scrub the oil off with detergents before sending them your way. You can apply a light coating of petroleum jelly which will make them look more like they did in the photos, but you will need to repeat every once in a while. The coating is a light wash of calcite, and there is no practical way of removing it easily without serious acids, and even then the crystal itself may not come up shiny.
I guess an option is to complain to the seller that they have misrepresented the stones, send them two photos, one they took and one you took of what showed up. Mention this has been a “negative” experience for you. They will sort something out with you pronto as the word “negative” will get them very twitchy that you will leave negative feedback, which petrifies them.

I noticed there are amethyst crystals with vivid blue color being sold on Ebay as "Fairy" amethyst or "castle amethyst".. Have you heard of this, and is it a legit occurrence in the crystal world? One never knows when something is a false marketing gimmick. Thank goodness you're here to help people know the difference!

One more photograph for you to see: Its so blue, it almost looks unreal. The blending of blue/purple in a castle amethyst like that seems strange. In answer to your question, I would have to say that the blue being concentrated in the fissures is an ominous sign that it is a dye.

If you’re a crystal lover, you probably know that animals love crystals too… My best friend’s dog is a border collie and we have found he absolutely adores Amethyst crystals; it would have to be his favourite! If you hide a crystal in each of your palms one being Amethyst and ask him which one is his favourite he will always go for the Amethyst. Placing Amethyst around his head and body completely relaxes him, like no other stone or crystal I’ve seen! he’ll become really mellow and often fall asleep.
I agree, animals often respond very well to Crystals as they do not have judgement on them!
Amethyst is one of my top three crystals, Rose and Clear Quartz being the others with milky quartz a close 4th 🙂 I love the calming soothing energy of Amethyst and have a small cluster on my mantelpiece, I’m sure she’d like a pal 😉 Thanks for the opportunity to win 🙂

I’ve always loved this gemstone. When I was in high school, I was in the “rock club” and there were amazing beautiful gems. I prefer amethyst over any other gem, even diamonds–I don’t have any diamonds, but I do have a lovely pair of amethyst earrings that I wear when seeing clients for energy work. I would absolutely love to have this gorgeous piece to put in my treatment area. Since it is purple/lavender, depending on the stone, that is a spiritual color—that’s why I wear the earrings—-I clean them in the moon light once a month. Such a special gemstone. WOW this is great it’s so refreshing to see and read discussions about crystals, and even better one of my favourites Amethyst, an immensely spiritual and purifying Crystal. I find Amethyst to be very uplifting yet calming, it very quickly raises the size of your bio magnetic field and heightens your vibration and consciousness, and it really is amazing for meditation. One of my favourite things which I learnt from you Anthony is to place the sides of your head next to an Amethyst geode to clear away built up radiation the body holds from phones, computers and other forms of EMF.
I remember reading about crystal auras and the many layers and complicated patterns that can be used for healing, it said that the Amethyst has a golden aura and emits golden rays. Have you heard or had any experience with this?

In reply to your question, I personally have not seen the golden ray being emitted by native Amethyst. That is not to say it does not!
Charlotte mentions it could be the vibrational energy of the gold ray creating the purple color.

Does the depth of color of amethyst determine the quality? Which is preferred, darker or lighter color?
From a physical mainstream perspective, dark transparent Amethyst is considered of a higher quality and is sought after by those that would use it for jewelery.
From an energy perspective, I feel it comes down to what the individual is attracted too/needs at that time. Some of the most powerful energetic Amethyst energy that I personally have experienced is very lustrous Amethyst of a lighter shade.
Sometimes I have found it is easy to miss out on an incredible energy that I may of otherwise enjoyed had I not payed so much attention to what was deemed by others to be superior. For me especially, that was true of Clear vs Milky Quartz. Initially I sought out clear quartz going on what I was perceiving to be most desirable from what I was reading at the time. After a while I then I opened up to Milky Quartz and, well…..WOW WEEE!!!! 😀

What about amethyst that has been heated. I know that I’m careful to not buy crystals such as amethyst that are heated to be more purple. What tips do you have for us to look for to discern if amethyst has been cooked or not. Namaste <3
I have not heard of Amethyst that has been heat treated to make it darker, only to turn it that golden color that they then sell as Citrine. Some unscrupulous suppliers are dyeing Amethyst to make it darker, however this is very easy to see as the dye seeps into the matrix. So if it is dark purple right down to where the matrix starts, and beyond – ring the alarm bells!
Just in case they have found a way to heat treat Amethyst to a darker color, I guess a similar test could be done as what one does to check for irradiated Smoky. That is to get a torch out and shine it on the cluster. If the light illuminates or at least partially lights up the crystals, all is good. If no light penetrates at all, then treat with a moderate amount of suspicion!

The lovely purple of Amethyst crystal being a seventh chakra gemstone would seemingly assist in the alignment of the pineal and pituitary glands with the current transformational process of humanity from being carbon-based to crystalline. This, in turn, would elevate consciousness and increase intuitive awareness. Can you comment on this? Does this seem to be a likely spiritual scenario as time progresses on our planet?

Yes, for sure Amethyst does already have that energy to help humankind on the journey from carbon to crystalline based entities. What is really exciting is, as we become more evolved – new energies that are arriving will continue to come down to the planet. These energies are assisting us in assimilating and utilizing Amethyst (among other crystals) energies. Kind of like an interface between our current carbon based form, helping to bridge us to the crystalline forms we will become.
Hello! Amethysts are good for protection among other things, and I have often wondered if the size of the crystal matters. Will a smaller Amethyst have as much protective power than a larger one, or does it depend more on on the person’s intention for protection? Or some combination of both? Thank you! Hi Karin, Thank You for your comment and question. My feeling is it is a bit of both! Smaller pieces are certainly easier to carry around in your pocket and afford you personal protection wherever you may go with it. Should you find yourself in a large space that requires protection, then you have the ability to amplify and expand the smaller crystals energy using conscious intent. You need only do that once and the Amethyst will hold the program for as long as you are in that space. If course once you leave that space that energy will dissipate somewhat. For a more permanent solution in a larger space such as a house or work environment, I feel a larger Amethyst Crystal/Cluster would be the way to go.
Personally I try to be careful with intention when it comes to protection. For areas where physical protection is needed such as electromagnetic fields and so on, then I’m all for it. However if it is for a more psychic or spiritual protection, then I look within myself to see if it is a fear driven “blanket/cover all need”, if so I drop the notion from my being as I feel I would in fact be broadcasting and attracting the very thing I am afraid of! If it is a situation that is a very real and immediate threat, then for sure I proceed with the protection right away!
