For what and How Does One Use it?
Milky Quartz is the ideal crystal for this time we live in, the ‘Information Age.’ It is Milky Quartz that holds the majority of information in the crystal world.
The milky appearance is caused by many bubbles of un-solidified quartz solution floating in the crystal. Scientists have recently discovered a way of storing terabytes of information in a single one of these bubbles, so think just how much information is packed into these crystals! This information is constantly being released, and in some cases, gathered up as well. When these beautiful crystals come in contact with the right guardian, it triggers a large release of information into the ethers. This information is then released into the general Consciousness. Often crystals going through this process will visibly become clearer. These crystals tend to be gatherers of information as well, so don’t be surprised if you have milky crystals that fluctuate between becoming clear, and milky again. They are literally breathing in and out in their own cycle of life.

when i lived in Pembrokeshore I found several milky white quartz stones – small and big ones.
Several churches have huge boulders of these placed on top a wall surrounding the church. #
Is there any significance in using these large stones to surround the churchyard and church.

Hi Susan, great question! From an energy point of view, for sure the quartz will enhance and project that loving calming energy. I cannot comment on whether the people that laid them had that in mind at the time.
I just recently started collecting crystals. I forgot that I had this one for a very long time. I believe I found her at an Antique Store in 2000. I've been looking at all the pics posted here so I think this is Milky Quartz but, would love confirmation.

They are worth something, if you can polish them into a palm stone or a pendant to wear. Lot's of money.

Hi there, I’m squinting at the photos, it does look like pyrite, but I’m picking up on mica energy. Is the surface of the crystals a gold color or a grey/brownish with a gold tinge color? If it is the later, I’m going with Mica, if it is golden and metallic looking, then yes – pyrite.

Hi Glo, this is a tough one, as they are shaped beads they could be just about any thing. My best guess would be either calcite, or possibly morganite. If they are not that expensive, then likely calcite, if they are pricey, it could be morganite.

Hi Glo, Morganite can come in a few different shades of pink, my wife has a bracelet with Morganite beads that look a very similer look to the pinkish beads in your photo. Real jade is quite rare, and very, very expensive. I’m not feeling they are jade.

Hi Joyce, yes this is Milky Quartz. It is not really worth any money in the form there, but if you were to find ones with crystal points on it, then it would be worth about 20 to 50 usd a lb depending on quality.
Awesome stone! I have one that is this same coloring about 10#'s (8"x10") and told it was Milky Quartz. My question is: Is the type of rock than can be split to show the pretty quartz on the inside? If so, how would I go about it? Mine was found not far from Lake Superior in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan.
Hi Cathy, the answer is possibly, one can never completely tell until it is cut open. the best way is to use a diamond blade saw. I would use google to search for any rock and mineral clubs in your area and join up. You will find plenty of club members with saws that would be willing to help you cut one open for sure 🙂

That looks to be a river worn smoky quartz crystal – How cool is that! river worn crystals wash out of fissures in the earth and end up in rivers, where upon they get naturally tumbled – smoothing off the edges. I have a few to myself, and yes they are the perfect hand held buddies!

I was thinking it mite be milky quartz? Was wondering if Rock quartz is the same as milky quartz or bull quartz or massive quartz? I've had a few people mention these names and I was wondering if all of them are the same? And if not how are they different? I find them in my yard and collect them put them in a pile in front of the house. Big and small and I think I found some petrified wood too. Thought they were special but didn't know for sure until just recently that I started getting into chakra healing. And that's what made me look into what they can be. Thank you for this site so far it's the one I feel I resonate with the most. I will surely be coming back to this website for more knowledge.😊 Also I hear a buzzing in my ears especially at night when I'm in bed I actually call it chirping sometimes it's really loud and some times a little bit more soft, also feel a vibration in my heart chakra in my throat chakra as if the sound is coming out from there sometimes. Hi Rose, yes this is Milky Quartz – massive form. Rock Quartz is generally accepted as being clear, but I would still say Milky Quartz qualifies too. I’ve not heard the term Bull Quartz.The sensations you are experiencing at night is definitely related to your spiritual growth and awakening. Hi Laquita, it is the massive form of Milky Quartz. The “massive” term means it is rock like and does not have the form of the crystal, yet it is crystalline in it’s makeup. What it means to find it – it means you are fortunate to have come across it 🙂
To fully experience the crystalline properties of it, would be to use it in either your drinking water (once cleaned) or as an elixir. For an explanation, see link below.

Thank you for all the information on the website. Please could you advise about the attached picture. They were in a box of satin spar, but are very different. I would say a 6-7 on mohs scale. Very pretty stones, some are fairly opaque whitish, and some look a bit more glassy, and a few also have tiny flashes. I have no idea what they are – in your opinion could they be milky quartz, or something else?

Hi Victoria, thank you for your kind comments regarding the site. Yes, those look to be a mix of Milky and Clear Quartz. You mention tiny flashes, if these are appearing on the surface, they well could be members of the Girasol Aluminum Included type Quartz

Commenting found this in Norway on a lakeside in 2010. 15 October 2019 i dreamed three statements – Life is born from water. To use stones for divination – and ‘I am a record keeper’. I had never heard this phrase but remembered i had seen an odd window in this stone. I am so sceptical, and after reading about crystals etc I again some how forgot about the dream. But today I found your site and as I think this is a Milky Quartz stone it all sort of connects again. I started dreaming about crystals again! A herkimer and an enhydro Calcite! (Don’t know if these exists). I just wanted to say when faced with ‘magic’ it can be hard, and yet without betraying authenticity and a critical judgement it is delightful to follow threads of spirit connections leading on to a path not willed but chosen on some deeper level.

Hi Louise, herkimers are a type of diamond and enhydro calcite has water droplets inside from when it was forming. It sounds like you could get a lot of information from crystals as you are a record keeper – as they are. Would you be interested in writing about your experiences?

Hello Good afternoon Mr.Anthony I'm very happy that i found your website, i've been searching everywhere to find out some information about this stone that a friend of mine found a couple of days ago. I would love it if you could give me some information about it like the name of it etc.
Okay let me try to describe this stone to you it is verý hard ive been trying to polish it,but i dont see any result from the effort i've put in to polishing it. i used a metal knive sharpener and that didnt work at all. When i pour water on it the crystal become less transparent the stone is so hard it scratch glass easily.

Hi Bryan, Thank You for your question. It sounds like you could have quartz there. There is a hardness rating for minerals called Mohs hardness scale. Your average steel knife is around 4 on the scale, where as quartz is a 7 – this would explain why the knife sharpener is not having much effect. The norm for polishing quartz is diamond based tools. I am need in some help finding the correct type of quartz I have. I'm not certain if its under the Milky Quartz or something else. I purchased these beads in a gem show. They had a bunch of strands under the Quartz section and thought these stood out to me because of the luster-opal like quality. Some are more cloudy than others and have a tanish-brown hue to them. Hi Lulu, there is only one sort of milky type quartz I know of with luster like that – from Madagascar, but the correct name escapes me right now, I will update this post when it comes back to me. It looks to be quartz, but really hard to tell from just photos sorry.

Hello and greetings. Finding this Milky Quartz in a sacred site made it all the more exhilarating. I live on a mountain that has these types of stones, but they are not so easy to find. I can be walking on a path, feel a presence, be guided to go a little off the beaten path, and viola, a quartz find. I can also dig in a spot with a shovel and come up with one almost every time. How can you explain this?

Hello there! I have recently purchased some spherical quartz clusters. The seller says that they are milky quartz (female). They are found free-floating inside of White Quartz geodes in morocco. I was wondering if maybe you had some metaphysical info on something similar as I can't seem to find them anywhere. When being formed, they also have no contact with the crystals on the edges on the geode.

I believe I have a quartz cluster that the only milky parts are the time links and windows. Have you seen anything like this? Any information on why they are the only milky parts on the cluster? Thank you.
Hi Amanda, thank you for posting. Yes, I have seen this before, though it is very uncommon. It makes perfect sense though as the milky aspect on a physical level is micro dots of un-solidified Quartz and/or water droplets. Scientists have found that amazing amounts of data can physically be stored in these droplets. Thus it would make perfect sense that windows and time link windows would have milkiness (information) to them. You have in your possession something very special!

My sister and I are new to crystals, but have just moved to a new house and found that we live on a pile of quartz.Everywhere we walk and everytine we dig to plant or anything, we bring up a pile of them! Everything from very veiny Rose and Smokey colors to pure white and milky, to clear crystallized ones and everything in between. We are wondering – a lot of things! Lol but mainly like, what implications might this have for us, and what is the best way we could use this find?Is it okay to dig them up and use them as decorations, edging, etc? Sister wants to tumble some in the rock polisher – is that okay? We have been reading your pages a lot, but we are like, there are SO many of them! What if we mistakenly use the wrong kind for a certain purpose? Should we just leave them alone as we are total noobs and could possibly negate things that other, more knowledgeable people are doing? Hi Serena, Thank You for your exciting post! OK< well....WOW! That is all sorts of awesome! You should find things grow really well where you are. The energy will be very high, but don't worry, you will adapt in time, if you have not already. I see no reason why you cannot use them as decorations, edgings and so on. Tumbling them would be a great idea too. Others will be able to share in their beauty and you could give them away to friends, and if they are beautiful enough, may even be able to sell a few! Crystals are actually pretty easy, there is no need to over think them. The basics are, if it feels right for YOU, then it is right for you. Don't take too much notice of naysayers or self appointed experts that may put you off what would be some pretty cool projects. The fact is, you were attracted there, you are exactly where you are supposed to be - the universe has deemed it thus. So therefore - you and your sister have been deemed as guardians, so what ever the two of you feel should be done will always override anyone elses opinion 🙂 Thank You for the link to the photos, they are GREAT! Your response to them has helped me a lot because I too have recently moved into a house that is not only surrounded by deer, humming birds and tortoises, but milky quartz as well. Some the size of boulders, some the size of grapefruit and some the size of grapes. I also know why I initially felt uncomfortable about the home at first….the energy of the quartz is very high and takes some getting used to.

It is a little hard to tell for sure without holding them in my hand, it could be Milky Quartz, but I feel that it would more likely be Calcite. If the two stones you sent photos of were found close together, I would lean towards it being Calcite even more…

There are probably many elements at work here but the main one would be a continual overlay of non beneficial patternings , which when these are built up over time can make one feel like there is no forward movement in life, causing a trickle effect of lack of motivation etc
When ones energy become overwhelmed with these non beneficial patternings its easy to feel misunderstood or ever at times crazy!
I would recommend talking to an energy expert such as myself to help you understand and learn how to clean up and deal with these non beneficial patternings!
I wouldn’t put a whole lot of stock on the issue being the rocks in the closet for they can only eliminate their true nature unless they have been programmed in a non beneficial way and I’m not really picking that up!

I’m very sorry for your incalculable personal losses and extremely hard times. Milky Quartz is a very nurturing energy and is not the crystal of choice for holding or projecting negativity as such. I’m sure the stone was given and received with nothing but pure love. I’m honestly not feeling that there is a correlation between your circumstances and this crystal. It would be much more likely to have come into your life to assist you through these times of extreme duress and hardship you have encountered. I’m not feeling that as you find it beautiful and treasure it is your inherent intuition telling you that it is helping you. With you having healed from the breast cancer, shows you are very much meant to be here at this time, and the fact that you can still find beauty and love within and around you means that you very likely serve as an inspiration to many people both close to you, and within your inner and outer circles. My feeling is that you are in the process of coming into calmer lighter times, and you will be an immense source of hope, love and comfort for others that will be also facing challenges in their lives. I’m from New Zealand, and the Maori people here have a saying – “Kia Kaha” and this phrase has strongly resonated through me while I have been writing this, and I feel it encapsulates where you are now and need to make the forwards progress you are seeking. I spend my winters now in the open desert about 20 miles west of Quartzsite, AZ. The entire desert seems covered with these beautiful whitish colored rocks of all shapes and sizes, with pronounced "veining" throughout. They are just beautiful! I brought some home to Illinois this spring and gave them to a lady friend who said she felt a "power" emanating from them as she held them……I have no pictures, but wondering if these are milky quartz? There are literally billions of these rocks in that area!!

I have a great milky quartz story for you, hugely life altering for me! It happened about ten years ago, and I'll never forget it, because no crystal has ever done this to me… not even close!
I live in a small town and a little holistic shop is downtown. One day as I was approaching the store from around the corner(I wasn't headed there.)… a good 40 feet away… the strangest sensation suddenly hit me! It was huge waves of energy maybe? It even sounded like when you can hear blood pumping in head, but this was 10x that! Of course, I had to stop and figure what was going on! I was immediately drawn around the corner to enter the shop. Somehow I just new something in there was doing it and I had to find it. It didnt take long! It was a dull white quartz point. Had to have it! I new nothing about crystals, nothing about cosmic energy, wasnt spiritual, nothing new age.
Here's the the real irony… I never thought anything of my milky quartz point. I wasnt even clear on exactly what type of quartz it is, I always thought a candle quartz… but a little diff… didnt feel right though. And I thought it was kinda plain too, and a little disappointed it wasnt some other beautiful cathedral quartz or something. Lol It always just been hangin out with me for the last decade!
So tonight I thought I go through some of my crystals…. doin energy work. I thought Id properly identify some quartz I have… stumpled on this awesome website!!! And many blessings to you, because I know now its a milky quartz, and I completely had a eureka moment! 🙂 Yes, I have a tabular quartz present aswell! Lol

I've been delving into many spiritual practices. As of late, the Hindu goddess Kali has been very prominent in my journey. It is the close tie to death and destruction, and the motherly love of the universe that has been drawing me towards her. I went outside to get an animal skull that had passed behind my house. I wanted to do some sort of art with it. When I went to remove the skull, after leaving am offering, the whole of the body fell apart and the skull was badly damaged. Underneath the corpse was a crystal. After looking up numerous photos, I think it may be milky quartz. How magical it would be if that's what it were to be. How can I get an accurate judgement on whether or not this a piece of milky quartz or not?

My father just passed away two days ago and when I entered his room at his house he had this huge Milky Quartz right on his side table next to his bed. I felt immediately drawn to the crystal and overwhelmingly emotional. I brought the crystal home with me. My question to you is how can this crystal help me? What does this crystal mean? This is my first crystal and I don’t know anything about crystals but I have such a strong feeling towards this crystal, like it is bonding my Father and I together.
Hi Stephanie, My apologies for the late reply, I have been away. My condolences to you regarding your fathers passing. Quartz has the ability of receiving, storing and transmitting energy. So for sure this crystal will have done this with your fathers energy. This is why you have such a strong emotional response with this crystal. Milky Quartz crystals do have an especially strong focus on energy storage. They are also very nurturing crystals and this will help you come to a greater deeper understanding and bond with you father. Hi Anthony, well i gotta say that I am pleasantly surprised by the imformation you've given about milky quartz stones. You talk about it so passionately that it truly intriged me. Thank you for that positive stimulation. It was much needed. I started inquiring as to the energy and spiritual properties of the milky quartz because a very dear friend of mine gave me a beautifully polished stone as a necklace pendant for my birthday on December 15. Seeing as though him and i share such a special ,spiritual , insync bond with each other it got me to thinking that this milky quartz pendant couldnt possibly of come into my life, from this truly dear friend of mine by chance… and i was right. Thank you so much for the info. It has truly enlightened me and i will cherish this milky quartz pendant for the rest of my life. Hi, I purchased a 26 pound milky white crystal ball recently. I felt it was to heavy to cleanse in the traditional way with water, so I tried to mentally melt with it and cleanse it through meditation. I feel like the results were positive because I receive a good feeling after the effort like it worked.

Yes, the experience left me with content feelings. I had put my final absolute bid on it days before the auction ended, several folks were bidding too. The winning bid was mine at 206. Something in my mind beckoned me to seek out the meaning of the number 206 since it was the winning bid, and a bid I had established days before, which turned out to be the winner, and not a penny over. I was impressed with the meaning of the number, and the personal association with my bid!
Good afternoon Anthony… I'm very glad I found your site, it's very informative and I really appreciate that you take the time to reply to the questions and queries of folks. A few weeks ago I was hiking along a river here in South Africa and after hiking for about 10km's I felt myself drawn down to the river. Upon making my way down to the base of the river I came upon a vein of white quartz, about 4m's long and 300mm's-400m's wide… I was successfully able to harvest numerous pieces, some ranging from no bigger than an average coin to pieces at least 250mm's in circumference… Of course carrying all that quartz back to camp in my backpack was interesting to say the least.
Anthony, my question is this, I'm relatively new to the benefits of quartz and what to use them for and where to place them. Could you please suggest or possibly provide some guidance please?
What I can tell you, is that the biggest piece I placed on my patio window next to a similar sized piece of rose quartz, I have also placed a few shards in my wallet, one on my bedroom window sill and a few pieces in my van… What do you think?

Thank you for your kind words. WOW, how exciting, finding that white quartz is an awesome experience! You are off to a fantastic start on your journey with crystals and clearly you have a great intuition. Your placement of the crystals thus far is spot on. Clearly you are populating your personal spaces with the quartz, and that is fantastic! My suggestion would be conscious gridding. That is to say, place the crystals around your living area, property and so on in geometrical patterns to further enhance the crystal energy. Consider the shape of your house, property and so on. Google geometric shapes and select the one/s you feel drawn to, then create grids of that shape in your selected areas as best you can. Feel for the energy shifts and modify to suit. If it feels right, it is right is the basic rule of thumb!
You may wish to look into crystal programming to utilize your grids further, here is a article about that…

I hope it's OK for me to add to this reply. I live in Portugal and my land is covered with all sizes of what I think are milky quartz. They are beautiful and some have veins of pink and yellow too. I am new to discovering the benefits of crystals, I don't know what to do with the hundreds of stones but I feel I have a need for some of those I find.
I am in need of healing, just gone through two years of chemo so wandered if they could be helpful to me.
My land and village name translates to the valley of water so perhaps once a river flowed here, there is certainly underground water here.

Yes, these stones are Milky Quartz with various degrees of Iron staining creating the pink/red/yellow coloring.
Their energy is very nurturing. The red coloring would suggest they can give a boost to your base line physical energy. Hi. Im in the sothern part of the Arizona desert. I am looking for information on milky quarts. I found a small piece that is very polished which i find very unusual. It is somewhat translucent With several angled sides but it is not a crystal. I think it was used by primitive man as a hammer stone in making arrow heads. How was it polished so well.

Hello, I have had this 250lb milky quartz for about a year -and-a-half. My mentor told me a story once that his mentor was able to "clarify" a foggy/milky quartz through meditation. The moment I received that consciousness, my own quartz, photographed above, has begun to "clarify" in certain spots. Since this process has begun, the crystal and I have begun a mutual synthesis of consciousness. The more I allow the crystal to share its wisdom with me, and love it in return, the more it begins to clear. I love this Crystal with my entire soul and have dedicated my life to help it reach "clarity."

I have a couple questions. First; is there a way for me to maybe post or send you a couple images I different stones to may be identify? Second; I was in a stone/gem shop today with my husband, my brother, and my mother, and they have a tradition where you reach into a large bucket that is full of hundreds of different stones and gems and whatnot with your eyes closed and a wish in your heart before you leave the store and you keep that treasure with you. I reached in and got what the lady that runs the shop says to be milky quartz, how do I know what wisdom, if any, it holds for me?

The information held within crystals can be vast. The information you receive would very likely be different from what someone else would get if they were to hold the very same stone. Try holding the crystal in a quiet location, close your eyes and listen to your breath. Try not to think about anything, just let your thoughts “flow” through your mind. If you catch yourself “analyzing” or “thinking” take yourself back to listening to your breath and see what information comes forth.

This occurs as the crystal releases “information”. Do not be surprised if it goes cloudy again at a later date, this is when it receives information from the Angelic realm. Think of these crystals as breathing in information and breathing it out again. They usually release information when they come in contact with the correct energy/vibration which triggers the release 🙂
Yes, I bought a triple necklace I was drawn to off Wish because it had a moon and pentagram with a random crystal. I was happily surprised to find I had received the milky quartz! But I do have one problem I live in a very large apt building 110 apts I cannot charge my crystal in the moon I was hoping the sun would work and have already done that before I found this site. Hi Misty, congratulations on your Milky Quartz! Yes, you can both cleanse and charge it in the sun, or even on a window sill in the moon light. White sage would work very well too. Another way would be to place it on a quartz or Amethyst cluster.

Last month, I had an unexpected breakup from a thought-to-be soul mate. We've remained friends, but I've had a longing for companionship. Two weeks ago, I had a dream with such clarity where a voice told me that I'd meet "him", my truest soul/lifemate within a year or two and to be patient because he was "still learning". I asked the voice if I could send him love and encouragement while he did. I felt overwhelming physical love expanding beyond me- this is not new to me, I work with my energy fields frequently, but within this dream it was such a sudden and unexpected grow of love I felt like the Grinch on Christmas day- like my heart grew 10 sizes!
Fast forward to yesterday, I was in the store bustling around prepping for a party, and just as I was about to leave I glanced down and there was a basket of semi-polished crystal hearts- some onyx and some milky quartz. I immediately knew this was how I was mentioned to "send my love" to my future mate.
My question, after that long lead up, is will the thoughts and love I "send" through the quartz release into the ethers as described above, then plucked out for this person? Or is there another power or quality in the Milky Quartz that allows for more directed communications/messaging?

The quartz will indeed release your feelings and thoughts of Love that can be picked up by the recipient, be that on a sub-conscious and or conscious level!
You can also use conscious intent to direct the energy, you can use all manner of techniques to do this – such as visualizing the recipient receiving the feelings of Love and support.
One may also add the energy of accelerated learning for the betterment of the receiver, try not to get to specific in the form the learning might come – leave the universe as many options of possible to manifest positive learning experiences..

Hi I've just bought a 2nd hand milky quartz pendant as I was attracted to it. Do I need to cleanse it? Or does it come with a message? Which method is best for this stone – water moon or smudging?

Depending on the metal that may come with your pendant, water is great, then charge it up in the moon. If it has metal that may tarnish, then smudging will work best. Milky Quartz has by far the most information contained within them of all the quartz families, so for sure there will be many messages of wisdom contained within!
I've got a crystal quartz bracelet that I acquired while out with one of my best friends. Ever since, I've worn it everyday and feel very protected by its energies. I don't like going without it because I feel very unbalanced and very vaunerable to outside influences.
